A Year of Visible Improvements
Several projects highlighted in last year’s report reached important milestones in 2026. These investments support safer travel, better neighborhood connections and more opportunities to enjoy Rochester’s public spaces.
North Broadway Reconstruction
Work on the North Broadway corridor continued into 2026, including the area between the Silver Lake Bridge and Elton Hills Drive NW. The project improves walking, biking and transit facilities, adds driver safety improvements and strengthens connections to nearby trails and destinations.
Remaining 2026 work included sidewalks, bus shelters, streetscape features, tree plantings and landscaping.
Cook Park Pickleball Courts
The reconstructed courts reopened in August, providing a refreshed neighborhood recreation option and a place for residents to gather and play.
A special thank you to RAPA for funds contributed for this project!
Ward 5 Sidewalk Work
Rochester’s Sidewalk Improvement District work continued in 2026, improving accessibility and pedestrian connections in Ward 5 and across the city.
Parks, Recreation and Walkability
Silver Lake Pool & Splash Pad
The all-new Silver Lake Pool was completed in summer 2026. Amenities include a 25-yard activity and lap pool with zero-entry ramp, a climbing wall, aqua zip, basketball hoop and a new pool house.
The updated aquatic area adds another family-friendly destination at Silver Lake Park.
FORWARD at Cook Park
A neighborhood park concert paired live music with a chance to celebrate improvements at Cook Park. Rochester Public Music’s FORWARD series continues to bring free performances and community connection into neighborhood parks.
Why These Investments Matter
Parks, sidewalks and neighborhood gathering spaces are everyday infrastructure. They support health, accessibility, recreation and stronger connections between neighbors. Continued investment in these places helps make Rochester more welcoming and easier to navigate for residents of all ages.
Showing Up, Connecting and Celebrating
Community life is about more than projects. It is also the conversations, celebrations and shared experiences that bring Rochester residents together. Here are a few moments from 2026.

Park Board and City Council members attend the Silver Lake Pool opening.
Safe City Nights
Free community events created welcoming opportunities to meet neighbors, elected officials and public safety staff.

City Council members joined residents in one of Rochester’s signature summer traditions.
4th Fest
Live music and family activities brought residents together for Rochester’s Independence Day celebration.
