Citizens of Ward 5,
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your 5th Ward City Council representative. It has been an honor to work on behalf of our community, and I remain committed to advocating for policies and projects that strengthen Rochester and improve the quality of life for all residents. I believe our city’s challenges also present opportunities — whether related to public safety, housing, parks, infrastructure, taxes, or environmental stewardship — and I will continue working toward thoughtful, practical solutions that move Rochester forward.
As a council member, I strive to lead with fairness, transparency, and accessibility. Listening to residents and understanding your priorities is one of the most important parts of my time in public service. I believe city government works best when elected officials remain connected to the people they represent and make decisions guided by the needs and values of the community. This is why I publicize all my contact information so you can readily get in touch with me when needed.
My roots in Rochester run deep. My family and I have long been invested in this community, and I am proud to have been born, raised, and educated here. Throughout my life, I have dedicated time to volunteering and supporting organizations that help make Rochester a stronger and more vibrant place to live.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving in several leadership roles within our community, including service on regional government and environmental organizations, nonprofit boards, and local volunteer initiatives. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to collaborative leadership and responsible decision-making for residents of Rochester.
My professional and volunteer experiences have provided me with a strong foundation in leadership, collaboration, construction, innovation, and community engagement. I remain committed to exploring new ideas, supporting city staff and community partners, and working together to address both current and future challenges facing our city.
I value hearing directly from residents and welcome your ideas, concerns, and perspectives. I will continue working hard to listen carefully, communicate openly, and represent the interests of our community with integrity and dedication.
I hope you will consider keeping me in office for your Ward 5 councilmember. I will continue to provide you with open and honest hard work.
Sincerely,
Shaun Palmer
